October 26, 200322 yr hi all, a question, can i use a rear projection tv for flight sim 2002 ,when a graphics card says tv out can this be used via pc screen though a tv and would the picture be good say on a 40 inch tv.thanks dodger.
October 27, 200322 yr You could try it, but the thing about TV's is that the technology is very different next to a computer monitor. While a TV is made for smooth motion video, a computer monitor is made for accuracy. The max you could get out of a TV is 640x480x30fps & 60Hz refresh. I have hooked FS2002 and FS9 to a 32" RCA TV before, scenery looks pretty good, but its extremely hard to read text. You can use 800x600 or 1024x768 with a TV, but I think the videocard will downsample it to 640x480, meaning text would be even harder to see. You should try it though and see what you think.
October 27, 200322 yr hi zack, i will look into it a bit more , it seems that it would be down to the graphics card , thanks for the help, roger.
October 27, 200322 yr I've tried a Radeon AIW 8500 with a Toshiba HD 1080i using component video inputs and I can tell you to forget about text. On a 17" monitor, 1080 x 724 looks OK. On a 36" TV it looks very coarse. You can read it, but don't expect it too look like a monitor. So I wouldn't spend a bunch of money on a nice card; it won't make any difference with your TV. A better plan would be to find a used projector designed for PC's.
October 27, 200322 yr hi dennis, thanks for the help i will look into the projectors and give that a try, regards roger.
