Check out my system specs below, in FS2002 I'm getting garbled audio and occasional buzzing like noises every minute or so. I've got the onboard Soundstorm audio.

Greg,It's the onboard audio. I know at one time onboard audio depended on the cpu to process it's instructions, and I am confident that they still do. Hmm, well my load under FS is only about 25% or so, but definitely not close to 100%, so I don't think that's the problem. Playing audio in Winamp under 100% load with Prime95 running is just fine as well.
