Will this cable work? Really need help

Featured Replies

Hey everyone this is a bit of a follow up to my earlier post.I found this cable on amazon.comNow I know my logitech z680s support an optical cable. This particular one comes with a mini jack adapter which would plug in to the Audigy 2 ZS standard. The question is will this work to provide digital sound from the digital out on the audigy 2zs and does the zs support optical cable? Thankshere's the linkhttp://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00...3272157-1651148thanks!jason

Hey Jason,It looks to me like the audigy 2ZS standard edition does not have the capibility for optical output. If you take a look at the pictures over here:http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/avcards/6473/You will see that the 2ZS standard only has the 1/8" headphone style outputs. If you do pay more (quite a bit more actually) the platinum edition comes with an internal I/O drive that fix in one of your 5 & 1/4" bays in the front of your computer. As you will see in the pictures, there are two front mounted optical outputs on this I/O drive.Another good place to read about optical outputs on sound cards is this post:http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/rema...views~mode=flatThey mention that the audigy 2 can only do 5.1 surround via the optical outputs if you are not using the creative speakers.Take care,-CJ
