Need some feedback on video card upgrade

Featured Replies

Hello,Currently I have a Geforce 4 Gainward ti 4800SE 128MB. But it is really starting to perform bad lately and most drivers struggle to work with it. I was wondering if anyone thinks it is a good idea I upgrade to a better card or if it is best I stick with what I got for the time being. It's a good card I know, but I have been looking into the ATI Radeon 9600XT cards which seem very appealing, maybe someone can help me here.Merry Xmas.Regards,Alexander Martin.

Hi Alexander,There is no doubt the newer Radeons are very cool. I do wonder just how much difference you would see though. What are the specs of your PC? Also, when you say 'most drivers struggle to work with it', what exactly do you mean there? Could it be a simple case of clearing out any old driver components that got left behind in times past?Let us know your PC specs and a little more detail of the problems you are having. I'm sure between us we can make a more informed decision then.Happy Christmas to you as well!Rich.

Yo,Merry xmas.AMD barton 2800xp, 1gb PC3200 DDR400 RAM.I get display errors with any other drivers.Regards,Alexander Martin.

I've had trouble with Radeons in the past. You may want to try an FX5900.
