Results of upgrading to a radeon 9800 pro?

Featured Replies

Hi,I just upgraded my graphics card from a geforce2 TI 64MB, to an ATI radeon 9800 pro with 128 mb DDR, I got it for christmas while in Vancouver and im anxiously waiting my return to Montreal on January 5th. :-hah My question is , what am I going to expect from the upgrade? How many times more frames will I get after installing this beast? And what drivers/tweaking should I apply to make this thing run at its full Potential. Thanks,Alex :-wave CYULAMD Athlon XP 2400+ running at 2.33 GHzAsus A7N8X deluxe motherboard512MB PC2700ATI Radeon 9800 pro 128 MB DDR80 gig maxtor HDWindows XP proX-45 Hotas (soon)CH yoke and pedals

Alex, You might not see a lot of extra frames per second with the 9800 Pro but the picture quality will look a lot nicer. I moved to the Radeon from the NVIDIA and generally am satisfied. There is still a little wiggle in the distant scenery that bugs me and a lot of other 9800 owners. Some say it is the video card drivers and other say it poorly written code from FS2004. I think it is a combination of both. You probably will see a sight increase or should I say a less of a decrease in FPS when running the AA and other filtering settings with this card. Bottom line is that FS2004 is still CPU hungry and it could use a processor running at 4 or 5GHz, and a front side bus that is capable of moving that data to and from at 800 MHz plus.Terry

you should see a nice performance gain and should be able to crank up the graphics quality settings quite nicely
