February 2, 200422 yr Hey,I just got a new computer with an 128MB ATI Radeon 9800 Pro graphic card. When I was running in games such as FS2004 the graphics were looking very choppy. I tweaked with the display settings and downloaded the new drivers from the ATI site and it was still the same. I then downloaded Direct X and it is now looking good. However, I'm still getting a bit of jagged edges.I was wondering if there is anything else I can do to get the most out of my graphics card.Thank you very much,Lawrence
February 2, 200422 yr Lawrence, You might want to check and see what your monitor resolution is set at. If I run at 1024 x 768 with my ATI 9800 Pro, I see more edges than if I run at 1280 x 960. (A set at x 6) It still keeps that .75 aspect ratio. I believe you will find the monitor resolution in the display section within FS2004.Terry
February 8, 200422 yr Run 4xAA & 16xAF Performance. Run your res at 1400x1050x32. Great compromise between 1280x960 which is too low and 1600x1200x32 which is just a tad bit to much.Do your autogen fixes.Get Chris' clouds.Run with your terrain mesh at about 90%; but max out everything else; except for the mipmap slider should be set at 4.Start out tweaking without any AI running. Adjust upwards from zero.If you have any framehog aircraft, convert the 32bit textures to DXT3wAlpha with mipmaps. You need to run textures with mips because you have an ATI card. They look much better. Use DXTBmp program for the conversions.Use default textures; but get the MX Airport textures and one of the great water addons.Keep track of what's going on with the framerates. My frames are set on unlimited which I find the best in FS9. They seldom drop below the high twenties, usually run in the upper 30s in the cockpit and sometimes reach 100 in outside view depending on what I'm looking at.You have a big video card. Make it work hard!!!!!!!!!!!!!
