Hello erveybody! Now I know that there are many guys around here who know what they are talking about when its about computers. So I post that one here.I recently upgraded from an P4 2.4 & Radeon 9800SE to a P4 3.0 & Radeon 9800PRO (for complete specs see below)Nice, ha? But... the problem is, the performane of FS didn't improve with this upgrade.Example: Taxiing around Bill Melichars Honolulu in PMDG 737 (nonVC-model) gives me ~8 (!!!) fps. I already had that with my old specs.Of course I let FS create a new .cfg, and I followed most tweaking tips I found on vorious forums, including this one.The only thing I haven't done yet is a clean reinstall of windows. But could that really make that differenc? What would be the benefits of doing that? Please let me know your suggestions, I'm quite down about the facts I described above.Kind regards,Raffael SchmidtP4 3.0ATI Radeon 9800PROAsus P4P800 Deluxe1 GB Ram PC32002 HDDs totalling 170GB, divided into 50,40,40,40 partitions, all less than 80% full350 Watts Power supplyWin XP HomePS: Could the Power supply be too weak?

This is an odd problem, most likely software related. You should try experimenting with different driver versions and perhaps a clean install of FS would be a good idea. Just remember to move all your addons to another drive just to be safe.I don't use payware so I don't know the exact impact of that PMDG 737 on frames. How is is with other aircraft? If you do see an improvement default frames (I use the default C172 as a test subject), I wouldn't worry about it.

I hate to tell you this, but your hardware improvement isn't SO big. First of all, FS likes CPU more than the GPU. In my opinion, your 9800SE to 9800PRO upgrade for the FS was completely useless. Wasted money.CPU is ok though, although 2.4 -> 3.0 also won't bring you 20 FPS more. I don't think that you would get much more than maybe 20% improvement in overall performance. But one easy test you could do is (relatively) simple: reinstall windows + FS2004 + PMDG + Honolulu. And then all the tweaks possible (for both windows and FS2004). And then see what you get. If it's still the same, then you are stuck with it.
