tips for installing Radeon 9500 pro?

Featured Replies

Hi,I just recently bought a Radeon 9500 Pro on E-bay and I'm hoping to install it later today for use in FS2004. Since I've never owned an ATI card before, I want to ensure I prepare my system correctly. Here are my settings:Athlon XP 2000+1.67 GHz512 MB RAMnForce motherboardHP MX75 monitorintegrated GeForce-2 3d graphicsI plan to uninstall the NVIDIA drivers, reboot, use Nasty File Remover (NFR) to remove NVIDIA files, then install the 9500 Pro.Should I upgrade the chipset drivers to nForce 3.13 (the latest version)? Last time I tried updating chipset drivers, it crashed my system.I hear that it's a good idea to ensure the latest motherboard BIOS. I have no idea what this means. What do I need to do? Is this step necessary?Any other suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

There may be issues with that card and an nForce mobo. Check www.rage3d.com for details. That's why you might need to flash the mobo BIOS.When installing the new card you will need to disable the old onboard card from the BIOS. Do this after you have uninstalled the old card and run NFR, shut down and plugged the new card in, but before it boots to Windows. Also make sure you have the latest card drivers to try.Allcott
