April 27, 200422 yr Fellow simmers, any words of advise when installing RAM? I know which type to get and how to physically install it onto my motherboard. Are there any 'software' issues I should be aware of? Or will Win XP recognise that new hardware has been fitted and grab me firmly by the hand and lead me through it? Many Thanks, Stan HarveyEmiratesVA
April 27, 200422 yr RAM is the easiest install ever, just pop it in and you should be good to go, but make sure the RAM is the exact same kind, because if you start to mix different kinds you can run into trouble.
April 28, 200422 yr Simply follow the instructions written in the mobo's booklet. Static electricity is your worst enemy. When I install computer components, I always do it in the basement near the water pipes. You won't pick up a charge on a concrete or tile floor and you can discharge yourself on the water pipes.
