June 18, 200421 yr Hi all.I'm wondering what will do me most good (and get me som FPS over 15 - I would love 25-45):1. A new CPU fx P4 3,2ghz, 800mhz bus, 512kb L2 (installed at the moment: P4 2,8ghz, 533mhz bus, 51kb L2)OR2. New graphic card fx. new ATI Radeon X800 Pro 256mb(installed at the moment: ATI 9700 Pro 128mb)Anyone got any inputs? As stated above my FPS is around 15fps and down to single digits in or around airports (landing and starting). And it sometimes feels very stuttering. I have done the xml-file tweaking as proposed in other Avsim forums. Ohh, and I have 1024mb of pc400 meamory.Cheers, Mads
June 18, 200421 yr hey,did u look for other similar posts on this forum?http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...=8634&mode=fullVery very similar to your case...;)should be of helpdario
June 18, 200421 yr Hi Dario.NO - it's not very similar to my case since the guy is runing a very much slower cpu and have a slower video-card.But le me rephrase my question - will a upgrade of the cpu (and its only from 2.8 to 3.2) make a difference reg. FPS?Or is the ATi 9700Pro 128MB video-card already getting ready for pension (its only 1 year and 8 month old)?I'll appreciate any input here as long as they don't point me in directions where I end up reading about Athlon processors or Nvidia video-card since :-)Cheers, mads
June 18, 200421 yr The 533Mhz-bus P4 is likely running 266 DDR RAM. To take full advantage of the 800Mhz-bus on the 3.2, you will need PC3200 or better RAM. Just highlighting this. :)
June 18, 200421 yr Hi Rob JThx for your input - good fact. Luckily im already running pc3200 ram (1gb in fact). But my fault. Should have been writing it in my first post. But what does the rest of you suggest - what will be a good idea for me to do?Cheers, Mads
June 21, 200421 yr thing is that it is quite similar.not all of it might be useful..but some bits are.."Other than that i would maybe wait for prices to drop with the new range of products."theres no point of buying a p4 3.2ghz cpu when u have the new mobo's coming out soon with new features. and 2.8 to 3.2 doesnt really make a notable change to bring your frames up by 15fps (imo)as for your 9700 you could overclock...as i said to the other person in my other post.but that depends on your choice ;) if you want to go on with what you have and use it at your maximum capabilities.
