August 24, 200421 yr HELP!I am new to VATSIM and all the software that goes with it (Squawkbox e.t.c) it took me about a day an a half to read through everything and install all of the components carefully. When my dad was using Excel for a spreadsheet the pc just rebooted itself. From then on it just got worse! After the (automatic!) reboot it is now displaying a CPU WARNING message. It is saying that the CPU has been changed. I cannot remember having to change anything with the CPU ? We have tried changing the motherboard, graphics card, processer however we have not been able to overcome this MAJOR PROBLEM ? Regards to anyone who posts a reply. Cheers.
August 25, 200421 yr HiMy system spec is :Pentium 41.5 MGHz60 Gb RAMNivida G Force 2 Graphics CardWindows XP ProfessionalSorry thats its a bit vague, but i dont know all the technical side of it as the pc i am sending this from is a different one to the one that i use for FS. Hope this is of some use. Many Thanks.
August 25, 200421 yr I would first check the BIOS. It could be that the FSB of the computer has somehow been changed (probably lowered). The documentation that came with the computer should tell you the proper FSB as well as how to get into the BIOS. The BIOS will give you a number of choices for setting the FSB... make sure it is set at the correct speed. The kind of warning you mention is highly unusual. I also recommend that you do a thorough check of the system for viruses. The three tools to use are Spybot, Ad-aware, and Spy Sweeper (Google will get you to all three). Use all of them... one will catch what the other two may miss.Good luck,Greg
August 26, 200421 yr Hiwe had to take the PC to the local shop for some assistance. After all that the motherboard was broke, even though we had already replaced the motherboard in an attempt to eliminate the problems. However when we took it to the shop they told us it was the motherboard !!! Now the PC is fixed i'm scared to use VATSIM again incase the same problem happens again. Has this problem occured elswhere before ? (i need some reassurance!)Cheers.
August 26, 200421 yr I highly doubt that VATSIM broke your computer... merely a coincidence that the MB went bad soon after you installed the VATSIM software. You should enjoy your VATSIM experience and stop worrying.Have fun,Greg
