LCD Monitors

Featured Replies

I currently run FS9 on a 19" ViewSonic A90 and even though I am pleased with its performance, I have been considering "upgrading" to a 17" LCD for several reasons: takes up less space, uses less electricity, runs cooler. Can anybody share their thoughts on the pros and cons of switching? Thank you.

Ah yes...the switch from CRT to LCD (and how satisfied you are) has alot to do with the LCD you decide to switch to. I made the switch from a CRT to the SAMSUNG SyncMaster 172x TFT LCD Display. With a 12ms pixel response time and 500:1 contrast ratio, all I can say is I am already looking into getting a second one. As for the CONS of Switching: you won't be able to see true black sometimes. Clouds will look wierd; you will see them as bands instead of smooth transitions (at night). Also, with LCD's you have to watch out for "ghosting". There isn't any noticeable ghosting with the SAMSUNG LCD, but it is a decision you will have to make. Hope I helped!!!

I run a 3 monitor system and had already changed two of them to TFT. Great space saving and power saving too. However, after lengthy research and viewing, when it came to the outside view it was a no-contest. I really had wanted to change it to TFT/LCD but I went for a Mitsubishi 22" CRT and it just plain beats any LCD/TFT out of sight - to my eyes, of course :-)

decent CRT's are still ahead in image quality by quite a bit, unfortunately.
