December 14, 200421 yr Hi All.I'm in a right dilemma,is anyone here running any of the New PCI-Express stuff yet, is it massivly different ! I'm thinking of going over to this stuff, but don't know if it will be worth it.thanks for any news,
December 14, 200421 yr Truth be known that the difference between AGP 8x and PCIe 16x is marginal. Infact only about 5fps or about 400 3dMark03 points. In 3dMark05 (which uses the latest game engines) the difference is only 78 points for the 6600GT. Scores for the X800s and 6800s are similar. For older games there is no difference at all between the two. The one advantage of PCIe is nVidia's SLI which allows you to use dual graphics processors. Still, right now PCIe is not worth buying a new computer.
December 14, 200421 yr I know the framerates are marginal between AGP and PCI-E (Express).I'm thinking of the future, manufactures are releasing only PCI-E style motherboards (no AGP).Please...do not scrap your current highend system, only move to PCI-E if your building an entirely new system using all new technologies...Video cards, SATA Hard Drives, etc.
