Need some WINXP help Please

Featured Replies

I need some advice on some problems I am having with WIN XP the past day or so. 1. User Environment: Data Error (Cyclic Redundany Check) - this appears at the WIN XP Welcome screen along with the message can't load the user profile and will log on as default user. Once XP loads I am able to switch to my profile. 2. When I try to "restore" my wallpaper that has dissappeared due to the above, I get a RunDLL 32 error when I try to set the wallpaper from the Display Properties Window. Anyone able to offer me any help on these.

Your XP seems to be in bad shape. Have you run a virus Scan as well as an Adware? Run those first and see if anything comes up. About your account, if you make a new account does it work fine or do you still get the same problem?

Hi Kurt,I managed to solve the problem by creating a new account. I had been using system restore to try and solve a problem with the CH Control manager software and had screwed up my account by doing this. I ran system restore more than once to various different times over the past week. Thankfully I was able to solve everything and restore my original account to full working order. Thanks for the suggestions.
