December 20, 200421 yr I need some advice on some problems I am having with WIN XP the past day or so. 1. User Environment: Data Error (Cyclic Redundany Check) - this appears at the WIN XP Welcome screen along with the message can't load the user profile and will log on as default user. Once XP loads I am able to switch to my profile. 2. When I try to "restore" my wallpaper that has dissappeared due to the above, I get a RunDLL 32 error when I try to set the wallpaper from the Display Properties Window. Anyone able to offer me any help on these.
December 20, 200421 yr Your XP seems to be in bad shape. Have you run a virus Scan as well as an Adware? Run those first and see if anything comes up. About your account, if you make a new account does it work fine or do you still get the same problem?
December 20, 200421 yr Hi Kurt,I managed to solve the problem by creating a new account. I had been using system restore to try and solve a problem with the CH Control manager software and had screwed up my account by doing this. I ran system restore more than once to various different times over the past week. Thankfully I was able to solve everything and restore my original account to full working order. Thanks for the suggestions.
