April 10, 200521 yr Hi Folks!i wanted to buy a new board with a new CPU + Ram. I can't afford such a high end system so i would like to know from you how a AMD Sepron 3000+ will behave in FS2004? i had an AMD 2400+ and it was really poor. i had also 512 SD-Ram and a gforce 440mx. my new system config would look like this:AMD Sempron 3000+512mb DDR ram128mb videocard (nforce or what ever)i would like to know, if you would recomment it...thxbtw is the motherboard also important for the performance?

Those are not gaming cards by any stretch. If you want to see a fps difference then spend the money on a high end video card like a 6800. Your MX isn't even on this chart, its slower than the FX5200 at the bottom.http://www20.graphics.tomshardware.com/gra..._charts-09.htmlYou can save some money on the sempron but I'd spend the difference on a high end card. Motherboards can make a small difference but not much. They usually come down to whats included with the mobo bundle itself. I've always liked and used ASUS boards but thats me. PC WORLD this month has a review of several boards, you might want to look at that before you buy.David
April 11, 200521 yr Hey! thanks a lot! So you would buy the sempron, but also a good new video card?! I know that a 3200+ or a 3400+ would be much better, but a sempron is cheap, of course i will spend some money into a new gc.btw. i looked up some graphic cards and i saw that the radeon 9500pro is much cheaper than the gf 6800.. but is there really a big performance difference????http://www.igfly.com/images/betateam.jpg
April 11, 200521 yr Hi, with FS(9) as you probably know, the CPU is the predominant factor. Then, depending on your operating system and add-ons, RAM is maybe worth the second consideration. The display adapter can easily be tied to the resolution you require. For example, getting a X800 or 6800-class adapter is a 'bit' overkill at i.e. 1024x resolutions. All in all, try to seek a well balanced system because FS will perform as well as your weakest component. A few questions in return; what's your approximate budget and what do you plan to do on the display side? Which resolution do you use now or do you intend to use during the duration of this upgrade? Are you looking at the socket-754 or socket-A Semprons? If I properly understood, you're taking along a couple of components, which ones? Hope this adds to thoughts, good luck and kind regards Jaap PS, IMHO, the mainboard and specially the chipset is important for flawless functioning.

Graphic issues with FS9 and Radeon cards are still being sorted out,I'll stick with cards with a Nvidia chipset myself.Would I buy a Sempron? Nope,I going to be upgrading this fall and will be going with a AMD64 4000,which is basically a FX53,6800 card and a gig of memory. That should do for about another three years and then start the game all over again.David
