Enjoyed reading a number of posts in this forum describing the same issue I am having with my computer running FS9. I recently took deliver of a Dimension 8400 with lots of power to run FS9 compared to my old system with PIII1000 and old ATI videocard. But 'whoa is me', my new machine freezes up after only a few minutes of sim time. I tried every trick in the book to make this program run or more correctly; make the videocard run FS9 correctly. I know I have the proper drivers installed yet I still freeze. On occassion I get the dreaded blue screen telling me I have had a fatal error and the computer has shut down for safety reasons. I am also told my nv4_disp module crapped and the computer entered into a infinite loop.Is my videocard bad or am I experiencing something else? I see someone else with the same sort of issue was told to look at his power supply. I believe mine is a 300 watt; is this not enough?Any response from one of you young lads would be greatly appreciated. Any questions re: any flying things I would be more than happy to explain. Hi CJM and welcome to this forum. This kind of lock-ups can be almost anything. Drivers, components, etc. One thing worth trying is opening the case (if that's possible?) and have a fan blow in some fresh air to see whether it still occurs. Perhaps also look at or join this 'Dell thread' in the other hardware forum in the MSFS section: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...=8042&mode=fullPersonally, I think Dell's decision to rely on high energy (aka hot) Pentiums only is at least questionable. As far as I can judge, AMD's 64-er uses less energy and has some other technical advantages over current P4s. Anyway, in case you get more blue screens, perhaps write down what they say because this is an indication which way to search. This would be very helpful. You can also use these lines for Google or Yahoo searches. Hope this helps, good luck and kind regards Jaap

Ah, the infinte loop problem. There's bad news and worse news about this. The bad news is that your nv_disp module could indeed be FUBAR'd. The first thing to try is a thorough cleaning and then a reinstall from XP of the original file. DriverCleaner is the tool of choice. Follow the instructions in the Readme to the letter and then reboot into Windows. Force Windows to reinstall it's native drivers (which would include it's original nv4_disp) and then reboot the system again. Then reinstall your drivers of choice. I read in a few forums that folks are seeing an increase of the IL while using some 70 series drivers, so it might be a good idea to revert to a version from the 60 series just to test your issue. The worse news is that the IL can also be caused by a flakey power supply. While Dell's PSU aren't world beaters they are not junk either. Having said that even a great PSU can sometimes drive a rational person to the edge of insanity.I would certainly try to resolve using the DriverCleaner option before throwing a bunch of money into a new PSU.Good luck,Greg
