Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!It all started when I was on the IBM websie and accepted an offer to scan my computer for upgrades. I've been flomoxed ever since. My specs changed after the problem started so I have two lists....Windows XP SP1 CURRENT LISTPentium III 550 MGHAmibios 1.03(k) 1999Trigem Napoli-2 motherboard 62-314B00299-00101111-071595-446BX-NAPOLI--H Integrated soundRadeon 7500 64 meg DDR vid card EDIT: I get a PCI IRQ routing error on CMOS read.Crystal Sound Fusion Audio device registering conflict, code 15 under ME but 12 under XP (resourses not available) Legacy Audio drivers (Crystal was always there and worked fine, don't know where Legacy came from, can't adjust or get rid of it)currently 192 meg RAM, 228 megs set aside on NTFS drive (planning getting two 256 DIMM sticks if I get sound back, otherwise I'd rather save it for a new rig after Christmas)I have no sound anymore, no audio device is detected. Two floppy disk controllers come up and both register conflicts. A: drive not functioning. My PS2mouse will not function, got a USB adapter into my hub and it works but not in CMOS setup mode. The keyboard in the PS2 port works all the time in Windows and Setup. When I plug it in the USB adapter it works fine for windows and to enter setup, but locks up then and eben if I don't go to setup I can't use it to select OS, the light on the hub goes out from when I exit reading the CMOS dump to when Windows comes up.At the time it came up I was running M.E. with Rage 128 SDR 32 meg 2.54 gig partition on a 15 Gig drive. Someone with more dollars then sense bought stuff to upgrade their 'puter then bought a new one with it all instaled and gave the extra stuff to me. So now I have an activated Winddows XP upgrade from M.E., did a reformat to NTFS in the process. I was then able to put in the Radeon which had been laying around for years cuz it would never work under M.E. I'm about to expand the partition to the full drive and put in a 40 gig they gave me with ATA cable.I'm new at this, I'll answer any questions I left out. Tried to attatch my device manager's page but it didn't work out. If it will help I'll send a Sandra report when I get that back in.Best Regards, Donny:-wave

Hi Donny,I'm not sure I can help (perhaps Jaap on this board can?) partly because I'm somewhat confused as to what your problem(s) is/are. You mentioned a few things but I think trying to fix so many things at the same time is a problem in itself (not to mention that your rig is, frankly speaking, quite old). Could you maybe list out each problem in turn (hopefully in order of priority)? For example, you mentioned some IRQ conflicts but the computer *may* work properly despite the conflict.Edwin

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!It was working fine, the problems occured simultaneously. I believe it is an issue with how resources are distributed, but I don't know how they should be so I'm not touching it yet. There is specific info as to what "channels" are causing confict because some are Xed out in Windows and said to be being used by other devices., I could really use som "remote assistance" I guess. That was my primary reason for going to XP, the poroblems began with ME though. The computer is working pretty good, and believe it or not giving acceptable frames on multiplayer (I never use AI). Frames with the SDR card actually improved a bit after the problem cam up! Did plan to upgrade rigs after Christmas anyway though.Once again, this all happened simultaneously, and I do not believe age was a factor, but an ill advised "upgrade". Shoulda left well enough alone. No BIOS changes that I know of though, this is as far as I know all driver and resourse allocation trouble. (PCI IRQ routing table error is the error code)No sound from integrated card Crystal sound Fusion Says no audio device installed in Control panel. Crystal Souynd Fusion in Device manager has conflict, error twelve.A: floppy inop, two floppy controllers being seen in Device Manager. Error 12 for both, not enough resourcesPS2 mouse port inop, the exact same mouse works fine when plugged into a USB adapter. It does not function in CMOS setup screen. Since I adapted it to in the USB port PS2 mouse does not apear in the Manager. Keyboard always apears in both USB and PS2 as long as the PS@ to USB adapter is plugged in.Keyboard works fine in PS2 port, but does not always work in CMOS setup before Windows loads when plugged in the same adapter as the mouse. Hitting DEL to enter setup in the USB port works, but not F8 for more options when booting. The keyboard always functions well in the PS2 port.Apparently the CMOS settings have changed, I reformatted when upgrading to XP. But this whole thing came suddenly, under M.E., before the reformat. I would rather get this resolved before reinstalling any sims.I really don't know what CMOS options to set to rectify the problem. When I try uninstalling the devices with conflicts, at reboot I get "windows has found new hardware, Audio controller, crystal sound fusion, Floppy 1, standard floppy disk controller then Floppy disk controller again. I only have one floppy, two controllers come up and both register conflicts, error twelve.Even when my computer was otherwse fine, I had never been able to successfully install a Radeon 64 meg DDR vid card before under M.E. My 32 meg vid card has always worked fine. But now I have successfully got the DDR going under Windows XP.There is a *chance* the dip switches could be off, I never touched them but someone else did a few years ago. Maybe they were wrong but it was covered up till the "upgrade".I am away from that 'puter for a few days now now, but I'd apreciate more advice.Best Regards, Donny:-wave

Hi guys and thanks for confidence I might be able to help, Edwin. :-) To me this sounds pretty confusing. My suggestion(s) would be: - Enter the current bios upon boot and check whether certain options are adjustable. If there are, please list those you aren't certain about? - Or download the old bios and restore the FlyTendo to the previous state. - Perhaps also compare the current bios release ID to the one you should have according to IBM? Case you can indicate a precise model number (the mainboard number doesn't help), maybe a couple of further ideas pop-up? Hope this adds to thoughts, good luck and kind regards Jaap

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!When I get back to the Flytendo I will give the more detailed info, outa town right now.Sorry I forgot to mention it's an Emachines Emonster 550.Yes, it's old but believe it or not it's been doing the job, and when I get a new one after Christmas I plan to use this one for Teamspeak. Need sound for that:-)In fact, I think I'll just list all the BIOS settings along with the specific serial nomber, cuz I don't know enough to be sure what to be unsure about.Thanx for the effort so far:-beerchugBest Regards, Donny:-)

Hi Donny, isn't Emachine a seperate brand which has nothing to do with IBM? In case you flashed your bios with something incompatible, you might even be lucky your machine is running at all? To start, I'ld check the Emachine website and see whether you can download the proper bios for your rig. Case you don't know how to do these kind of things yourself (flashing the bios etc), perhaps consider taking it to the computer doctors and let them sort it out for you. I say so because this can be a bit tricky and you might need somebody who knows exactly what they're doing. If you do all the prep work yourself - like organizing the bios etc - it shouldn't be a too long job at the workshop itself. It's the 'looking for files and becoming acquainted with a particular system' which usually costs most time and thus money. Unfortunately, it seems as if something's totally screwed up there. Good luck and kind regards Jaap

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!The one problem is a "flash" usually works thru the floppy- and it's not working.Actually, on IBM's site, I input my brand and model, but somehow I've never been able to get back to that particular page. Maybe I was hijacked or fooled by a popup, but it seemed to be integral to the site. In any case, Antivir, Spyware Doc turned up negative a few times afterwards.I'll give Trigem a google, there isn't much under E-machines.It's a acceptable machine with frames at settings that look fairly good. I have a keyboard and mouse working, but no floppy or sound right now.I'll try the original BIOS, but it seems like I would be better off with investing in a new rig first which I was planning on anyway after Christmas- though if I could get it back to where it was this thing could be useful with FSWide and Teamspeak.Best Regards, Donny:-wave

Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!Latest advice from E-Machines is, run FDISK, delete all partitions, reformat then install the restore disk that came with the computer. That would mean temporarily rolling back to 98. But, the native drivers that shipped with it would all be there. The sound and PS2 mouse port are integral to the motherboard. They don't work, neither does the original 3 1/2 a: drive.A friend advises, just use the "windows restore" option on my XP upgrade CD. My doubts about that are because I reformatted already going to XP. But I did have all my third party stuff (USB hub, joystick, ethernet card, nonoriginal ATI vid) plugged in when I did it.Guess I still have the reformat option if XP restore doesn't do it...If I could find an external sound card that ran thru USB, I might go that route if all else fails.Best Regards, Donny:-wave
