Drivers for ATI X850PRO <--- SUPER-B CARD

Featured Replies

I was wondering if someone can put some light on this for me:I just recently upgraded from GF4-Ti4200 to ATI X850PRO and have so say I am amazed!!!!!!!!!! what a diffenece in performance it made, sure I am very very happy.Really haven't found any problems, would you guys recomend updating to the latest drivers from ATI website my current drivers are 6.14 info from System Spec.Thank youPS This card really rock my FS Worldother stuff it's 2.53GHz P4, just bought P4 3.0E Ghz will upgrade monday see if it helps any on the airports where still sometimes it's hard for it to go over 10FPS and sit smooth, talking here about CYYZ from world airports with a lot of traffic and all settings at MAX, new MOBO I hope will rise my AGP to 8x and get the few MHZ from better CPU hoping for steady 15FPS on those really hard airports.Andy

Hi Andy,It's generally advised to upgrade to the latest and greatest video card drivers in order to take advantage of any performance tweaks ATI (or NVIDIA for that matter) have incorporated. Not to spoil the party but the SimFlyers CYYZ (i.e. from World Airports) is a frame-rate hog primarily due to the way the scenery is designed. I really hope you'll be able to get more frame rates as a result of your upgrade but I have my doubts. BTW, going from AGP 4X to 8X is not going to yield any difference at all because that only reflects the peak transfer rate of the AGP bus, and transfers rarely occur at peak anyway. If you're planning on a new motherboard purely for that, I'd advise you not to go ahead with the purchase.Congrats on your new upgrade anyway!Edwin

Thanks for response, I am getting new MOBO because I bought the CPU which I though would work on my MOBO, but it will not, because I didn't know and I bought something like 3.0E with L2-1mb, what I should have bough was plain 3.0 GHz, but oh well might as well get all the new stuff for the next 2 years, but the video card sure made a world of difference I now get approx 9-15 FPS in CYYZ with quite a high number of AI flights running around, but once they are not in sight (after take off, no matter how beautiful the clouds are or the watter is it's sitting at nice high 40 even 70-80 FPS, and I get my desire 20+ from the cockpit at landing, didn't due to much testing yet, but gonna sure was a great upgrade from my old GF4, may a busted fan light it's way... never did check yet weather the chip fried due to the fan dying but, oh well will see.Andy
