Hi,In regard to the earlier post I was able to fixup FS9 from crashing by restoring back to Win XP SP2 (vs. x64) version of Windows. FS9 works well on the new machine, however, I still have not found the right video driver/setting. Oftentimes I get bleeding textures, or somethings when I switch modes using S, I would get stuck textures from the old screen. If I do not run FS9 in full screen mode and minizime, the screen would dissappear and come back blank until I reseted video options. The framerates are fine. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?Question: What is the recommended setting for the texture rendering? My card is 7800GTX on AMD64 4000+. I am using the MSI-modified 77.50 nVidia driver.KInd regards,George B.

First thing I'd suggest is moving up to a newer driver build.Try something from the 78.xx series.(78.01, 78.03, 78.05)I don't recommend the 81.xx series for FS9 as there's alot of texture problems associated with them. Now as for graphic settings...I've found the best visual quality on my BFG 7800GTX is to max everything out. The card can handle it in FS9 so you might as well. Your system looks strong enough.

In FS9 at the display menu, on the hardware tab, when it asks about anti-aliasing, rendering to textures, etc, what should be the settings for that?Thanksgeorge

Hi George,If you use DXT textures, then leave Render to Texture on. Otherwise, check it off. If you have no idea whether you are using DXT textures are not, then leave it off unless you are getting random crashes (i.e. CTDs).Do not use Antialiasing from the FS menu (i.e. leave it unchecked). If you would like to use AA, set it in the Forceware control panel in the Display part of your Windows Control Panel.Having said all this, I don't believe your texture issues are due to wrong settings. As jamiee pointed out, the likely culprit are drivers.Hope this helps.Edwin

I assume you are running a similar setup to mine with the nVIDIA card (7800GTX over here). What driver would you recommend, I know I had issues before but this was with x64, I am now fully reverted back to Win XP SP2 Pro.Which driver do you find success with? Also, I installed the MSI driver because it has overclocking utility with it. I am not ready to overclock my system yet (break-in time), however, in the future I would like to do so.Last, but not least, what is the piece of software you would recommend for removing nVIDIA drivers (files) before installing new ones?Kind regards,George

George,1. I'm currenttly trying v79.11 drivers & they seem to work well for FS9. But MS Train sim won't run @ all with them. Haven't tried any other games yet. I've had pretty good luck with the v78.xx drivers though they may not be the fastest for the 7800GTX (at least they work tho).2. If you want to try other drivers than the MSI ones, that's fine. You can easily find seperate 3rd party overclocking/tweaking utilities on the net. "RivaTuner" is one that comes to mind. Here's a nice guide on how to overclock your card, it also contains link's to various utilities: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=747873. After you've uninstalled the video drivers via "ADD REMOVE" in Windows, I'd run "Driver Cleaner Pro" in safe mode to remove any residual files before installing any new drivers. Here's a good guide to follow: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=67799

Hi,I had the chance to try out some (extremely) beta 82.10 drivers yesterday. These don't have the texture problem that I get with 81.85 and 81.87 but I haven't been able to test performance. I flew with the new PSS 777 for around half an hour around VHHH and performance seemed to be the same as (maybe slightly faster?) than with 78.03 or 78.05.If anyone is interested in trying them, follow the instructions to download and install on this page:http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1227Note the use of the modded INF file. I first extracted the file, replaced the INF in the directory with the modded one, and then double-clicked on setup as per normal. Obviously, I used Add/Remove programs to uninstall my previous driver first.Edwin
