Noticable difference?

Featured Replies

I was thinkinging out of curiosity-If i were to make a separate partition for flight simultaor, would i get any noticable increase of frames? My current system is512mb ddr2 ramx300 pci-e graphics cardintel p4 3.4 with h/t.right now with payware planes, i get around 20 frames with everything maxed out. I have the omega drivers and i did a little tweaking to get it to look a little better. Could i make up for this about 5-10 frame loss by using a separate, fs only partition? Thanks guys

Hi Trevor,Although I have never tried, I fail to see how a separate FS-only partition would increase performance. I guess that would minimize fragmentation on the FS partition but if you defrag often enough, it wouldn't impact performance much. Besides, partitioning only affects the hard drive and hard drive speeds tend to only affect loading times and not frame rates. Is there something I'm missing? You mentioned "frame loss". Why loss?Incidentally, if I may say so, your system is quite severely imbalanced. Your CPU is quite (very) powerful and yet, your graphics card is a significant bottleneck. 512MB of RAM isn't ideal either. So if you are thinking of ways to get your performance up, I'd start with upgrading your graphics card and then perhaps adding RAM.Hope this helps.Edwin
