fe.dll problem

Featured Replies

HiI posted here a few days ago regarding computer crashes, I think I'm beginning to narrow down. Flight sim now crashes with an error due to fe.dll, however, I can keep on playing flightsim, just the graphics card seems to give up loading textures. The problem starts with the screen going totally black, and a lot of hard drive activity, then I have to ALT+ENTER to exit full screen mode to see what the problem is...fe.dll error appears, I can then go back into full screen mode and continue what I was doing but with dreadful graphics.Cheers[br]obklogo.gif[/img]

Hi obk,I'm not at my FS machine now so I can't check but fe.dll sounds like the add-on Flight Environment? I don't have it myself but have read about it in the ActiveSky forums. If you have Flight Environment, you may want to uninstall it and see if your FS9 still crashes. If it does, you know the crashing is due to something else. If it does not, then reinstall FE and see if it still crashes.Hope this helps.Edwin

Hi EdwinWill try that tonight, many thanks!Cheers[br]obklogo.gif[/img]

AhhI know what you mean now. I don't have the Flight Environment addon so it can't be that unfortunatley.Cheers[br]obklogo.gif[/img]

Hi obk,Sorry, now that I'm back at my FS9 computer, I realize that fe.dll is an FS9 module and not related to Flight Environment at all (since I don't have it either). Have you tried reinstalling/updating your video card drivers? If not, try that (please remember to uninstall your old drivers first using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and rebooting). If that fails too, the only recommendation I can think of is to reinstall FS9 on your computer. Note well that when I say "reinstall", I mean completely erasing FS9 and all add-ons from your computer (through the uninstall routine in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, and then wiping the FS9 directory on your hard drive in case there are remnants). Then, do a clean install of FS9 and test before you add an add-on. That way, when FS9 crashes, you know exactly which add-on is causing the problem.Hope this helps.Edwin
