spot view constant lock-ups

Featured Replies

Hi guysRecently i've been having some problems.Everytime i go into spotview, i see small 'untextured but randomly colored' poly's flickering all over the screen. Yet not to the extent that i i do not see the aircraft/scenery anymore. Recently in addition to that my spot view began to lock up. It would lock up for 10-15s then go reload all textures and then after 5s lock up again.this would repeat over and over.I changed from nvidia's Forceware to the latest Omega Drivers.I'm running a P4 2.26Ghz, 1024Mb DDR RAM, on an ASUS P4S533, GF4Ti4600 (Leadtek) and various other PCI cards such as a PCI 5.1 soundcard, ethernet, USB2 ... My RAM is in 2 slots of 512mb DDR. Running Windows XP Pro SP2If any of you guys have a suggestion, i would love to hear it.Also note that i have the same problems(lockups) when playing other games such as SWAT4, Sniper Elite, HalfLife2, Lock-on Modern Air Combat(but this one less than the others) etc etc. What i find very weird is that whenever i'm just in the cockpit in MSFS, there is no problem at all, everything runs smoothly...

Hi Lenny,Sounds like a driver problem. I actually didn't know Omega had drivers for NVIDIA until you mentioned it and then I went to the Omega Web site. I found that the Omega drivers are based on very old Forceware 66.93 drivers (last updated February 2005!). Although your card is relatively old too, I'm still skeptical of such dated drivers. Perhaps you would like to try the latest Forceware 81.95 drivers? (I just checked and your Ti4600 is still supported by these latest drivers.)BTW, remember to uninstall your old video drivers first before installing new ones. In fact, I'm quite sure that is the reason why you are having problems. Go into Control Panel, select Add/Remove Programs and remove all traces of old drivers (whether NVIDIA or Omega). Your system will ask to reboot and after rebooting, install the new driver. Please let us know how you get on and I hope this helps.Edwin

Hi Edwin, thank you very much for the help :)I think i managed to find the problem. I just cleaned out the dust of my PC...(spain => alot of dust :s)Then i thought.... but something has to be wrong in windows to so i went and checked alot of the windows settings till i arrived at 'pagefile'I had a fixed pagefile set. And i switched it back to 'let windows manage....' and up to now, no more problems... so i hope this is the solution. Thanks again for the help.Cheers
