Hi there, this post is because i know there are lots of PC Wizard among you...so forgive! This morning i upgraded my pc, both MoBo and CPU (ASUS P5LD2 P4 3.4GB); after all cables linked i booted and entered BIOS.Now, the BIOS didn't detect any of my IDE devices and in the first page i could read:PRIMARY IDE MASTER: NOT DETECTEDPRIMARY IDE SLAVE: NOT DETECTEDTHIRD IDE MASTER: NOT DETECTEDTHIRD IDE SLAVE: NOT DETECTEDFOURTH IDE MASTER: NOT DETECTEDFOURTH IDE SLAVE: NOT DETECTEDInstead, during boot i can read:PLEASE WAIT FOR IDE SCAN...DRIVE 0: MAIN HD (MAXTOR xxxxx) UDMA 5DRIVE 1: SECOND HD (SAMSUNG xxxxx) UDMA 6DRIVE 2: CD ROM (ASUS 52X) UDMA 2DRIVE 3: DVD ROM (LITE-ON xxxxx) UDMA 2it means all devices are detected correctly (isn't it?)After that it tries to load XP but fails and pc reboot :-(I also tried to start from XP CD installer but again at a certain point my pc reboots...CPU and 1024MB ram are correctly detected during boot. What to do?!?PLEASE, can anyone help? Thanks a lot in advanceMerry XmasLuigi ;-)

either your jumper settings are wrong on the back of the drives, or you have a problem with the bios. Maybe reset the bios to defaults if the jumpers are fine, then upgrade the bios drivers, just my guesses

thanks for helping.i did this op tenths of times during past years and never had such troubles, but only software update.jumpers on my drivers can remain as before as i do not plan any chan ging. i also reset CMOS removing the MoBo battery e moving the jumper.but nothing changes...my pc can't boot at all and frankly i begin thinking that something is wrong with hardware (CPU, MoBo, RAM).Luigi ;-)

BEFORE you started upgrading, did you ground yourself PRIOR getting the board out of the plastic silver bag, n also with the CPU. If so what cooler are you using on the cpu? standard cooler? if so you checked that it is making proper contact with the cpu.If you did that, then yes try upgrading your bios, problem could just be a corrupt bios..recheck all the cables again, and check that the back of the board is not touching the case, these last two most likey have nothing to do with it, but its worth checking anywayAVGAS

Does your new motherboard have Raid enabled on it? Try turning it off and see what happens.
