March 3, 200620 yr Guys, I'm planning to buy ATI Radeon X700 256MB AGP today. I'm planning to sim PMDG 737NG, with default scenery, and couple of addons (fs2crew & fspax), and graphics settings at least slightly above average performance. Sys spec:Pentium 4 2.4GHz1GB RAM DDR Question: 1. Is this card will give me good first impression in term of graphical quality in fs9 when installed? 2. How far will it take the video settings in fs9? Thanx for your priceless opinion. I'm impatient to get it today.
March 3, 200620 yr Hi Faztech, I'ld say the X700 scales very well with your CPU and a better card would almost be overkill. Just don't expect too much resolution-wise. @ 1024x you should be able to apply decent AA/AF figures. If you want to take it to higher resolutions, you'll probably have to move a couple of sliders to the left (incl AA/AF). Hope this helps, good luck and kind regards Jaap
March 3, 200620 yr Thanxs baksteen, that re-assuringI usually switch to 800x600 when simming. So I guess if I were to remain with that with X700 installed, I could get much better performance n quality huh?I'm not talking about going everything perfectly full-blown here, I'm just talking about intermediate satisfaction when flying PMDG.Intermediate which I mean, no stutering, and acceptable fps around 20-25fps, with full AI and at busy airports.
March 3, 200620 yr You're welcome. @ 800x the display adapter won't be a problem and as far as I would dare to judge, even a 128MB 9600 would do a very good job. >> ...with full AI and at busy airports.<< Case it's a heavy AI structure, you might be more CPU-limited than anything else. Specially in combination with complex aircraft. I'm nevertheless confident you'll be able to find your sweetspot. What's often forgotten; resolution is key. With your 800x, moving sliders (water, shadows, AI, etc.) will have maximum effect. :-) Have fun... Jaap
