April 6, 200620 yr My machine dates from 2004 or 2003 and it has the card it shipped with, an nVidia GeForce 4400 with 128MB RAM. The computer has a 2.4GHz processor and I have plenty of onboard RAM (about 1.5GB). So my question is whether I stand to gain anything in terms of speed (i.e. fps) by upgrading to a newer video card. Note that my picture quality is fine with the current card, no complaints there; I'm just wondering if it is a limiting factor in the overall fluidity and speed of FS9. Thanks for the help.---Will
April 7, 200620 yr Ofcourse, Upgrading the videocard will increase your FPS.. and as far as the limiting factor, it will and has always been the CPU in case of FS and the fluidity, well.. just try to tweak the settings AA/AF etc.., the FS graphics engine itself is not the worlds greatest fluidity wise. Your cpu should do just fine, and there are a bunch of nice cards out, however keep in mind when upgrading (standard is changing to PCIe and making out your boards age you probally have AGP right?, .. (or u can wait for the next lineup of DX10 cards but ud probally have to upgrade your motherboard also to PCIe)
