June 6, 200619 yr Is anyone else experiencing problems using the boards AA with nvidia cards, either shimmering, unresponsiveness or other problems?Paul.
June 6, 200619 yr Looooooonnnnnnnnnng time problem with their Forceware :( has been like this for most of the 8 series.
June 18, 200619 yr I've got such an ugly shimmering on my Nvidia 6800. Looks just awful. Changing drivers doesn't help :(((
June 28, 200619 yr Have you try the latest 91.31 official and MS certified?Check the AA from the driver CP...Andy
July 6, 200619 yr I know everyone will get different results depending on your system...However I use the following settings with pretty darn good results in FS9...I'm familiar the "Horriable Shimmering" you all are referring to...You may wish to give this a shot and see if it helps you out?? You may have to tweek more from here:Currently using nVidia 91.31 Forceware Drivers...(I have used these same settings for several previous driver variants with decent results also)...I set my FS9 profile up with these settings...I only use FS9...Not sure how these settings will effect any other game...>Anti Aliasing: 8x (4x if you don't like the *Blacked Out* Aircraft Preview Window..A very slight shimmering increase compared to 8x..)>Anisotropic Filtering: 16x>Image Settings: Quality>Vertical Sync: On <------------Switch to OFF>Force Mip Maps: <------------Switch to Trilinear>Conformant Texture Clamp: On>Trilinear Optimisation: Off <--------------ON>Anisotropic Mip Filter Optimisation: Off <--------ON>Anisotropic Sample Optimization: Off>Gamma Correct AA: On>Transparency AA: Supersampling (found this made a huge>differences to autogen trees and chainlink fences)>Triple Buffering: Off>-ve LOD Bias: ClampHave run these settings on BFG 6800Ultra OC, XFX 7800GTX Overclocked and XFX 7950GX2 xTreme...Thanks psolk!!Have Fun!!
July 6, 200619 yr Chuck,Tried your settings and seem to have found it looking pretty with hardly any shimmer left. However i dont know what display you are running, but suggest for those who use TFT/LCD displays to leave VSync ON because of some displays causing lagg/delay when its off. two more things to add, use your monitors native resolution nowadays mostly 1280x1024 and dont use a 60Hz refresh, use the highest setting your monitor can give you.
July 6, 200619 yr "However i dont know what display you are running"Ahh..I'm a CRT Guy..he he (It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks ya know!!) ;) I appreciate your input!! I forget Most Folks are using LCD Monitors these days!! One thing I did want to mention...The guy who steered me to these settings(psolk) is an LCD monitor guy as well..These are basically a copy and paste of his settings...But one thing I always believe in mentioning is...You have to tweek for your perticular system...Whatever works for you!!I just really feel this appears to be a good "Starting Point"...It works well for me anyhow..Thanks again psolk!!Have Fun!!
July 6, 200619 yr Some good advise here. :-) I agree with Davis to leave VSync on. 'VSync on' typically avoids image tearing (on both CRTs and TFTs). The downside - there's always a downside! :-) - the fps counter will show lower values. Be prepared to loose upto 1/3 compared to VSync off. The upside is a much better feel (IMHO). Good luck and kind regards Jaap
