August 26, 200619 yr My friend has a Dell Dimension 3000 desktop, 512 mb ram.. He likes to play Flight sim 2004 on it, but today when he tried the system shut down, restarted, and came up with this message."Your computer can not currently use 3d hardware acceleration as it has less then the required amount of video memory. Software acceleration 3d mode has been enabled. Some graphic features might not appear in software mode. Do you wish to see the message the next time software 3d is enabled? YES/NO"He said thatwhen the system came up he had to choose YES or NO before he could do anything. Also it did not load up correctly, the FS window was WAY smaller then normal. The system is going very slow as well.I asked, he said that he has NOT installed anything new, programs or hardware.I'm suspecting a RAM problem, but would like to make sure I am considering all the options..Thanks :)Chris
August 27, 200619 yr I can tell you it isnt a RAM problem because 512 mb is sufficiant for FS because i used ti fly the PMDG 747 with 512 of RAM about a year back...Its most definatly a graphics problem. What graphics card does he have. Also make sure that things like hardware acceleration are on Right Click Desktop > Properties > Settings > Advance > Troubleshoot. Also make sure that you download the latest drivers for his graphics card wether its Nvidia or ATILuke Harvest
