Problem while taxiing with the saitek X52

Featured Replies

Hello to all of you,I recently purchased the X52 joystick from Saitek. Well, I have been using it for a while now and experienced a problem with the steering on the ground. When I try to make a left or right turn after bringing the rudder back to the center position of the joystick the plane always keeps turning to the left or right for a few seconds more. It happens at any speed or angle of the turn. With my old joystick everything worked just fine. I did not change any setting after installing the joystick, checked with fsuipc and the calibration of the stick is OK. I have absolutely no clue how to solve this problem. It is almost driving me crazy to taxi to my assigned gate looking like the captain had too much booze :-(Does anybody have any suggestions?regards,Alex

I know you say that everything was OK with your old stick, but are you sure that that with the X52 you're not just experiencing the modelled inertia of the aircraft? Heavies don't 'turn on a sixpence', and at least in the sim, if you don't go smooth and pre-empt your turns, you'll find rather hard to control steering; especially if you let your taxi speed drop too low! Of course, at higher speeds with a tight turn it's a bit like steering a battleship.... ;) I have the same controller as you; the X52, and am very happy with it, however, I do have to think ahead when taxiing in order to try and keep it smooth!
