Is setting the GPWS off acceptable?

Hiya,After practicing some visual approaches I was wondering if in real life it was acceptable to set off the GPWS? If you were say too high on the visual in the latter stage of the approach and you increased the decent rate and got the 'sink rate' call. Is this acceptable?

hi buddynope ,in real life the only way u can silence the gpws is by correcting the action that causes it ,or else "pulling the circuit breaker" - absolutely no no by law ,company policy ...etc etc.however there are two over rides available to silence two particular callouts,the too low flap - and that assumes no landing flap selected with the gear down below a certain height. but u may silence this call as u may have to do a flapless or partial flap landing in case there is a malfunction.so the checklist will direct u to switch of the flap override function.secondly - glideslope - it comes on if u duck below glide path with an ils freq tuned in,but what if the gp is not working or u doing a llz only or a backcourse..or at time when one goes visual planes (or pilots!!)do duck a dot below glide willfully..so to silence the gpws glide callout and the push button maybe hit upon.hope that helpskunal
