March 21, 200719 yr Looking for some input on the following configuration for an upgrade. This will be a dedicated FS9 box and I will slide the current P4 3.0Gb (FS9) box over to assume the role as the WideFS box (SB3, ASV, etc.) which is currently a laptop.Have monitors, etc. Just looking at the meat of the system.Intel BOXD975XBX2KR LGA 775 Intel 975X ATX Intel MotherboardIntel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 ProcessorCORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual ChannelEVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card2 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (Perpendicular Recording) ST3250820AS 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive Antec P180 Silver cold rolled steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case (full fan compliment)Antec True Power Trio TP3-650 ATX12V 650W Power SupplyNEC Black 1.44MB 3.5" Internal Floppy DriveLITE-ON Black DVD+/-R/RW CD-R/RW Burner with LightScribe TechnologyI am hearing some pros/cons IRT the ASUS vice Intel board. I have a P4P800SE in the current box and have never had an issue.Anybody see any 'show stoppers'? The Antec 'stuff' is enroute, just thought I would pass it by some of the flight sim brethren before finalizing the order. Thanks, Mike
March 21, 200719 yr Looks all fine, however id opt for a slightly stronger PSU, because the 8800 alone uses quite alot of juice on its own already. And the thing between Intel or Asus. Intel is just as reliable as the Asus, BUT.. since your getting the 6600 i would strongly suggest getting an Asus or other brand etc.. why ,.. Because the 66 is a nice OC'er, and the Intel boards have no mentionworthy OC'ing features/capabilities so you'd only hold yourself back, with a cpu easily capable of higher than stock speeds.
