April 19, 200719 yr Sorry if this was covered here a million times already..I'm considering to upgrade a video card in my old AGP system. My choices are:1. POWERCOLOR X1950PRO Radeon X1950PRO 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X2. SAPPHIRE 100171L Radeon X1950PRO 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8XThe question is - does it make any sense to go for 512Mb card? The cost of both cards is the same.Second card requires a very powerful power supply. My current system:- P4 3.0GHz- 1Gb RAM- 2 x 150Gb SATAThanksOleg
April 19, 200719 yr Can make sense, but. what GPU do you have now?, and what resolution is it running?.They only things with getting a new card is, that you will gain more eyecandy to be shown/drawn by the card without loosing much speed, faster loading times when increasing VRAM and access to higher resolutions if supported by the display you are using. However if you are looking at increasing your FPS, you would be better off get a stronger CPU.Whats your current res, and what res are you going to run after?
