July 21, 200718 yr In FS9, I'm noticing significant shimmering (and aliasing) of "distant" textures, and especially AI planes (not the default ones). Now, I know AI planes have a number of LODs, but I don't recall from my older system seeing AI planes flashing at low LODs.I suppose this is a driver issue (I'm running 158.22); any thoughts? Should I revert to earlier drivers? Thanks,Nicolas in CYOW
July 21, 200718 yr Have a go with this setting, see if that'll work. First get nHancer, then delete the flightsim profile that was pre-made. Now make a new one with these settings.Enhancements Tab:AA:Combined 8XSGamma correctionAF: 16XOptimizations Tab:Texture Filtering - High QualityTrilinear Opt - OffAniso. sample opt. - OffNegative LOD BIAS - Clamp (really important for eliminating blurries and shimmering)Turn off the AA checkbox inside fs and filter to Trilinear.
July 21, 200718 yr Author Thanks a lot Davis; problem solved! I'm curious, however - is there any reason (apart from performance) why one shouldn't use a higher AA setting than the one you suggest? Thanks again,Nicolas in CYOW
July 21, 200718 yr Glad its solved Nicolas, well it's just the minimum that IMO works good for a mid-range GPU, you can go higher for sure, it just causes a bit of a FPS drop the higher you'll go. Personally im running 32 instead of 8S, i loose a little bit of FPS but even under the most dense settings i still keep a nice 30-40 plus (locked at 45). So just try and experiment a bit, to see how much your setup can take.Have a nice weekend.
July 22, 200718 yr Author Thanks. I took the AA up a bit with not noticeable performance loss (yet). Nice weekend to you too.Nicolas in CYOW
