Rick,Its always best/recomended not to have any "unknown" things showing up, I/O basically stands for Input/Output (device) now it can be several things, but its mostly mobo onboard-related. In most cases re-installing your mobo chipset drivers (found at your mobo makers website)should resolved it, if for some reason that didnt do it, it could be one of your PCI cards missing their (a) driver.

Davis i installed the latest chipset drivers, but still have this "problem" with I/O controller.
