Sound keeps reverting back to desktop speakers

Hi Gang, I have FS2002 and am having the wierdest problem. Via XP Control Panel my speakers are setup for 5.1 speakers; (Klipsch Pro Media). After a few minutes in FS2002, my speaker setting gets kicked to the "Deasktop" setting, i.e. 2 speaker. I then have to go back into the control panel and reset them back to 5.1. I tried the "Surround" setting but the same thing happens. Seems FS-2002 won't hold the 5.1 setting. This doesn't occur in any other app or sim.Any ideas on what might be causing this?
