Dauphin flies without disabling the joystick

Featured Replies

Just a quick heads up folks, after installing the latest v1.1 of the Dauphin, I have found that I can fly the heli with full autopilot features and NOT have to disable the joystick! Dont know if this should actually happing, but it seems to be working here. Ill tinker some more with it and see if there are any adverse effects. http://www.avsim.com/vfr_center/avsim_sig.jpg

I've been flying the original release without disabling the joystick and the autopilot has always worked fine, with no problems that I can spot.Kurt M

Found it quite a suprised when i discoverd this. All the documentation and various fourm posts all say to ensure the joystick is disabled... Stranger things have happened i guess! Makes it a whole lot easier to fly IMOhttp://www.avsim.com/vfr_center/avsim_sig.jpg

????? That's novel.... I'll take a look!Alun

Yep, you are right! Although it does not seem to be as stable as when the joystick is disabled, and it appears that the .gau/autopilot is fighting against the joystick input. If you watch the torque gauges when the AP is engaged and move the collective, you see the gauges "shake" as if fighting the different inputs. All in all, I think I'll keep flying with the joystick DISABLED! I suggest you do the same to avoid complications, but thats just my opinion! :-lol CheersAlun :-rotor

Yep, i agree with your findings. Been tinkering some more with it and got pretty much the same results. It could be a good thing though... Those who are having problems using the dauphin.cfg with joystick disabled, will now have the chance to experience what the autopilot is all about and hopefully give the dauphin.cfg another go. I think lots of people gave up trying to get the heli working with the joystick disabled. http://www.avsim.com/vfr_center/avsim_sig.jpg

Yeah... your right there! If it helps people fly this wonderful aircraft then who cares, Antti was also quite considerate to add the option of easier start-up/shut down sequences. Can't wait for his new helis... don't tell anyone I told you, but... the EC155 he's doing will have a similar control "program" as the Dauphin, plus whatever lessons he learnt whilst doing the original Dauphin... should be a cracker!Anyway, until next time!Alun

I think I'll probably continue to fly it with the joystick disabled as well. My buttons are mapped differently when the stick is enabled, and I don't want to "confuse" my other aircraft. :-hah-Lindy :-rotor
