Start-up sounds for Dauphin

Featured Replies

I read a couple of posts about including a set of start-up and shut-down wavs for the Dauphin; however, there was no mention as to how exactly to incorporate this into the sound.cfg that Antti says not to modify. If anyone out there has successfully implemented this, would you please tell me how you were able to do it?Thanks again."Learn from your parents' mistake...use birth control."(I M A UCLA) BruinAddict *:-*DemetriousAsus A7V266 MBAthlon XP 1600+ (@ 1.53)512MB PC2100 DDRVisionTek Xtasy GeForce4 Ti 4400 (Detonator 29.42 WHQL)NEC MultiSync E1100+ 21"SoundBlaster Live! If you have a set of sounds for the Dauphin, you need to rename the two you want to use as startup and shutdown. The manual tells you what to name them -- I was given a set of sounds and didn't have to rename anything. ;-) You shouldn't need to edit the sound cfg file.-Lindy :-wave

Lindy,Thanks for the quick response. I've already successfully incorporated the internal and external sounds; however, I'm referring to the actual spool-up and shut-down files as referrenced in the following post: http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID67/315.html#2 Is this what you are referring to? If so, thanks for the info. I didn't know it was that easy. So, you are actually able to hear the engine(s) spool up at start-up, then spool down at shut-down?Thanks.BTW, the reason I'm not trying this stuff myself is because at present I'm at work and away from my FS rig. :-)"Learn from your parents' mistake...use birth control."(I M A UCLA) BruinAddict *:-*DemetriousAsus A7V266 MBAthlon XP 1600+ (@ 1.53)512MB PC2100 DDRVisionTek Xtasy GeForce4 Ti 4400 (Detonator 29.42 WHQL)NEC MultiSync E1100+ 21"SoundBlaster Live! Well, about all I can say about my startup and shutdown sounds is the startup sound is pretty good. It gradually builds up until everything is ready for liftoff. I can't quite say the same about the shutdown sounds though. As soon as I move the yellow levers to Cutoff position, the sound "cuts off" abruptly. Not the most realistic! (Maybe I need to let the sound "wind down" as it were before moving the levers?) But I'll admit, the startup and shutdown sequence is not that important to me. I've got the Dauphin set up as my default craft with the engines already running. :-shy-Lindy :-wave

Sounds good. Thanks, Lindy. Just wrapping up a 12-hour work day. I'll have to play around with her when I get home."Learn from your parents' mistake...use birth control."(I M A UCLA) BruinAddict *:-*DemetriousAsus A7V266 MBAthlon XP 1600+ (@ 1.53)512MB PC2100 DDRVisionTek Xtasy GeForce4 Ti 4400 (Detonator 29.42 WHQL)NEC MultiSync E1100+ 21"SoundBlaster Live!
