A visit to the helicopter museum

Featured Replies

Hey all-A few weeks ago I went over to the American Helicopter museum located in West Chester, PA, USA (near Philadelphia) and enjoyed an afternoon looking over their collection. I found out they are having their annual Rotorfest in October (more info on their site), and took some photos of the place.I thought you bunch of rotorheads might like to see them while the forum is quiet...enjoy!Derekhttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d7e74bd629c4e45.jpgThe lineup outside the main entrance...http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d7e7479621bc9cb.jpgand a view of the main exhibit hall.http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d7e745c61cb03b6.jpgI know what I would like to do to this!http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d7e74a8626e00c3.jpgThe only V-22 osprey outside of the military industrial complex...http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d7e749462484d11.jpgand a view of the instrument panel. Does anyone know what side the PIC sits in an osprey?

I agree. It's a small but really good museum. I was there last Summer. I hear that their Rotorfest is great. Maybe we can organize a get together of Forum members for the event....Wayne

Wayne,How's it going? I'm a rotorhead by nature, and finally found myself here in "rotorhead heaven".Great pics guys. Wayne, that pic of you standing in front of the U.S. Army H-21 Shawnee made me HAVE to reply. My father was a career Army aviator, and he flew the H-21 in Vietnam in the early 60's. Yeah, it was just hauling around Spec Forces and ARVN, but it was still an ugly war. I penned a piece for the website I work for from my fathers recollections of flying over there....you might be interested in reading it.http://www.frugalsworld.com/logbooks/images-again1.shtmlthanks again for the pics...they rock.BBall------------------------Capt. William,Glad you liked my pictures! I'll definitely stop by at the frugalsworld web site, to read your story about the H-21's your dad flew. As you are a dedicated rotorhead, you might be interested in joining Metro Helicopters, which is a helicopter VA whose pilots fly on VATSIM in the New York metro area, using as close to real world procedures as possible. Several members of the Metro team are usually on-line almost every evening. Check out our new web site, which is currently under construction- http://geocities.com/metrohelo/index.htmlThere's a new member application on the site. You can see us on ServInfo or Whazzup, by looking for the tail numbers "NMHxx" flying in the NYC area.Attached are some screenshots of the Metro gang at 6N5, East 34th Street heliport, with special scenery that one of our members created.I also included a shot of me at the Reno Air Races last week... there were a bunch of copters on static display. :-)Best regards,WayneMetro 7Metro HelicoptersPublic Affairs Officer

Wayne,Thank you sir, I'll definitely check out your site. I'm afraid I'm a bit of newby when it comes to the VA part of the house, I've been pretty involved in a Falcon 4/IL-2 LAN group here in Minneapolis for the last four years. Almost all of my time spent in FS2002 is in a helo, so one would have no trouble labelling me a true rotorhead. It sounds intriguing, this VATSIM thing and all....I'll certainly check it out.GREAT pics...BBall---------------Capt.
