On the center consol above the auto pilot buttons for engaging collective and cyclic control is a field for a four digit number. It usually is set at "0" for a default and it increases in intervals of 100. What does this instrument do?? Thanks!!

It's been a while since I actually flew, but if memory serves, it's where you assign your desired Altitude when flying in altitude holde mode. However, you can't just engage AP and ALT with a figure of, say, 3000ft, and expect the heli to climb to that level, you also need to engage the vertical speed hold aswell. Oh, and make sure the VS is positive on the Vertical speed indicator if you want to climb, and negative to decend.Good luck!

Thanks a lot Airprox. Thougth it was for altitude hold but I must not have had VS selected so it didn't work.
