January 5, 200323 yr If you havn't already, go over to hovercontrol and download the new version of Jordans S300. It features a new ... um... feature, Load Control! You can adjust the load on your heli, be it fuel, PAX, or load, including underslung load (and yes, there is an underslung load shown under the aircraft!).Enjoy!Alun
January 6, 200323 yr Yup, it's pretty nifty, isn't it? Kudos to Jordan for putting it in, I really am enjoying the S300 Version 2! Hint: you don't have to use the program to mess with it, you can just use the fuel tanks. Center3 is your actual fuel tank (the one w/64 gallons). Center 2=cabin load, center 1=sling load. Please keep on designing Jordan and keep it free, you've got a lot of talent! :)
January 6, 200323 yr Yeah I was pretty excited when i first realized that weight could be configure, positioned, and manipulated by using the fuel properties inside MSFS I was pretty excited. I thought about just describing the technique and letting people add the tank on their own, but because of the limitations on tank selection in the helicopter, and the fact that if you run out of fuel in the "fuel" tank it will begin automatically drawing from the others, I decided to write the FSUIPC application to manage it. One thing it does is monitor the level in the "fuel" tank and shutdown the engine when that tank runs out, instead of letting it begin drawing from the other tanks that are used just for weight. Also because the names of the tanks are set in MSFS, I didn't want everyone to have to try and remember which tank was which, I figured a small program could simplify things...I'm glad you liked it though, I enjoy using it myself. The other challenge is if you use it on a helicopter that hasn't had its dynamics set fairly accurately it doesn't seem to make much sense.Thats why I chose to release it with the S300v2 which has a useful load of 950lbs at sea level (and is modeled as such). To start out the idea on the right foot I guess. I've had other developers already asking if they could integrate it into their projects, as long as they take the time to do it correctly, I'm looking foward to that.
