Dauphin question(s)

Featured Replies

I recently took my first ride on a helicopter and needless to say, that's what I've been flyin' lately! ANYway, being pretty new to rotor flight, (REALLY new, actually) I have a couple of questions about Antti's(sp) Dauphin. In the manual.doc, there's quite an explanation about disabling the joystick and setting axises, etc. How do you fly the Dauphin without the joystick enabled? That's my first question. If and when I change all this, does it preclude me from flying fixed wing, or does it all need to be changed back again ?Any explanations greatly appreciated!Mark

Hi Mark,I believe that version 1.2 of the AS365N3 removed the need to disable the joystick. I've been flying with this version for quite a while, and things work fine with joystick enabled.HHTom

In the documents in 1.2 it is still recomended to disable the joystick. the gauges he's programed interact with FSUIPC so your disabled joystick still works. The simplesr way to disable your joystick (unless youve changed this key asignment) is to press controll+k then press it again to enable your joystick. I actually do this often in fixed wing aircraft because my stick tends to bounce and shake with autopilot engauged, my personal force feed back settings are just a bit stronger than adverage.Having FunGrey_Wolf

I agree. Follow Antti's instructions and set up your Dauphin.cfg file correctly, then, as Grey wolf suggested press CTRL + K or go into settings and select Disable Joystick from there. You will be able to fly the Dauphin with the joystick disabled as FS takes the input from the .gau file that Antti designed, and this in turn reads the joystick info from the Dauphin.cfg file (I think! Only Antti truely knows...).One of the other posters suggests that you can fly with the joystick Enabled, this is possible, but it wasn't designed that way, and as such, some of the Autopilot functions can become unstable as the .gau file commands and the internal FS joystick commands fight it out! Stick with it, as this is a wonderfully realistic helicopter to fly.TRIVIA: It was designed with the help of a real life engineer who works on Daupin's!Alun

Thanks for the info, guys! I have one more question then I'll leave you alone. When you disable the joystick, are you disabling the Force Feedback (which is what I have)? I think this is what I'm not quite clear on.Mark
