Dauphin climb settings...

Featured Replies

I'm slowly working my way thru learning how to fly the Dauphin. I've got everything concerning the autopilot working pretty well so far, however, I have a question regarding climb settings. What I want to happen is have the Dauphin climb to a pre-selected altitude and then level off. The manual states that 'Preselected altitude is displayed on the FDC unit and it can be changed by clicking on the display'. I see where there is a display at the top of the FD (with four boxes/orange numbers) but I'm not sure if that's what Antti is referring to. AS and HDG are clicked on (green), ALT is off and VS is on. I've got the climb set to 500fpm and that works fine but I can't figure the rest of it out. HELP!Thanks,Mark (hope this isn't too confusing!)ps. Is there a users manual other than the one that came with the aircraft with a more complete explanation available somewhere?

OK, your half way there. The four boxes/orange digits is the place to input your required Altitude (I think +/- symbol comes up, I use the wheel on my mouse). 1. Set the required Altitude.2. Ensure Auto Pilot is on (lane 1,2, FD/Coll/Cycl coupled, etc.).3. AS and HDG as required.4. VS selected (ensure Positive rate of climb is selected, on the main panel, look for your VS dial(on the right) use the little nubin(has a real name, but I forget at the moment) to move the second needle to the desired rate of climb eg. 500 fpm).5. Press ALT6. If I've remembered all this correctly, you should climb to desired height and level off.Good luckAlun
