May 19, 200323 yr Whenever I try to use the snorkel to pick up water(both of them), I follow all the directions and yet no water is pumped up into the take, the meter stays at the same and no weight is added to the external load. Whats wrong?ThanksRyan
May 19, 200323 yr I'm still at the learning to fly it stage, so I can't help with your specific question. But go over to hovercontrol.com and post in the forum there. You'll get some help, I'm sure. The Aircrane is quite an accomplishment.-Lindy :-wave
May 20, 200323 yr Several things to cover: Have you set the center fuel to 65% and the left to 0% prior to start-up? Do you have the safety switch armed?? second, are you using the appropriate method (Hover for pond and under 40Kts for sea)??? Last but not least, are you turning on the pump switch once you have established the appropiate pick-up attitude???? Oh, and one last item, are you over actual water or just the hard stuff MS has painted to look like water (I can't forget this one since on more than a few ocassions, I have attempted a landing in a float plane on what appeared to be water only to discover that someone clown at MS had just painted a very flat piece of ground blue)Since you didn't specify you settings when trying to pick up the water, I kind of had to cover everything but I was able to use both methods on my very first flight with the crane. I was picking the water up at the river near the Bettles Alaska (PABT) airport.Hope this might shed some light. Also Lindy: Keep the Whirley Birds alive in Alaska for us while I'm out of the country the next two to three years :)
May 20, 200323 yr To be honest, there is no way to detect the type of ground without landing actually, so in hover it is independent if you have water under you or not. For pumping the speed has to be low (GS<5kt) , the main switch on, the pump switch on, the snorchel extended (SHIFT+E), the altitude low (4ft
May 20, 200323 yr One other thing we keep missing, are your lights on?? As for the type of water, I have or rather had no idea if this would make a difference. I have made several pick-ups now with the crane using both methods and have found both to be equally difficult. Keeping the airspeed correct and the altitude correct for a scoop is just as difficult as coming out of auto-hover using the pond snorkle and trying to establish a cordinated climb without exceeding maximum power. IMHO
May 21, 200323 yr Arne, thats it! I forgot to make it clear that FSUIPC is required. I can't believe that. I'll post a special announcement concerning that. Thanks for picking up the slack for me.
May 21, 200323 yr No wonder its not working, I just relaized that since I recently reinstalled FS I did not install fsupic.YAY!Ryan
