July 14, 200322 yr After two days of crashing and trying again, I've mastered several different auto-rotation techniques. And they're even getting quite consistant!I've been up to 1000' agl in a forward auto-rotation, where I begin at about 95 kias before killing the engine. Then lowering the collective (but not to fast), I maintain around 55-60 kias forward airspeed, until applying collective at the right altitude above the ground. This was tricky at first, because I'd flare about 20' too high and then drop when the rotor speed decayed. Now it get it perfect about every time. The chopper will land with some forward speed & skid to a stop.I then went on to hovering at 300' agl and cutting engine power. At first I would drop like a rock and crash every time. But with practice, I've dropped collective, built up forward airspeed with cyclic & landed safely.Nice surprises are excellent sounds of the rotor when applying collective to flare, and a genuine built in "feel" of the process!Notes: I've changed the two cyclic entries in the cfg. file to 2.0 from 1.0. Others have changed up to 4.0, but I find roll to be too sensitive for my tastes. But at least we now get a right 360 in hover if not using the pedals.I'm a fixed wing pilot, and flew R/C choppers for years, but didn't have the interest to actually get a helicopter rating. But this chopper has sparked the interest enough, that I was sitting in a Robinson R-22 this morning, going over proceedures and asking many questions. But an afternoon flight fizzled due to wind and density altitude. But I'll try again! :) At least the FS2004 VC is sure a good rendition of the actual helicopter..L.Adamson --- FS2004 "legal" gold copy

I have had it at 4.0 too, but kept getting Low RRPM all the time.BTW: I think I also tweaked other parameters on that same section of the CFG file, but I was stupid enough not to make a backup of the original CFG :-( Could some kind soul list here those other parameters?
July 14, 200322 yr Author I've e-mailed them to you.Did the same thing myself, got mad and re-installed the whole sim.At least I didn't have a bunch of add-ons yet!L.Adamson
August 7, 200322 yr How do u get the Throttle and collective working independtly on the R22Ive tried CTRL F2 to reduce the throttle, but as soon as i open the Collective the throttle increase too!!!!!!!Is there a switch to seperate themI have a 4 Axis stick installedPlease help im getting a sore butt from crashing all the time
August 8, 200322 yr If you want to fly with manual throttle you have to switch the governor off. The governor switch is on the end of the collective. All the governor does is keeps the engine at the right power setting to keep the rotor blades turning at the right speed. Not to fast or to slow.:(Noodle:)
August 12, 200322 yr Can you please post a checklist for the autorotation in the R22. I can auto the B206, but I'm not sure how to get the R22 into an auto, i.e what do you do with the clutch etc.I've tried many combinations maybe I'm trying to make it too complicated. Any help greatly appreciated.NP.
