Getting started in helicopters?

Recommended Posts

Guest BAW845_Matt

Hi guys,I'm thinking of giving helicopters in FS2002 (Pro) a go but I don't really know where to look - the defualt Bell 206 seems very dodgy and unstable. What do you reckon would be the best thing to learn on? What's avaliabe freeware and payware wise? And finally do you know of any good military helicopters, especially the Lynx Mk3/Mk8, Merlin, Sea King or Squirrel (sp?).Thanks in advance.Matt

Aha! Another helicopter convert. :-lolFirst, the default Bell 206 is the best one to start your training on. Both of the main helicopter sites: Hovercontrol and Hoversafe, base their instruction and certification on the default Bell206.Helicopters are inherently unstable. No 'setting the controls and just GO' with a helicopter. You have to fly it all the time. The best selection, IMO, of helos for FS can be found over at Hovercontrol. They offer a terrific helicopter community; online flying as well as online one-on-one training help; offline groundschool, flight instruction and testing. Plus some great scenery. So hop on over there: www.hovercontrol.com -- introduce yourself, register and get involved. With some practice you'll see there are LOTS more unstable helos than the default Bell! :-lol -Lindy :-rotor :-wave
