Getting help with different panels, etc.. just some gen

Featured Replies

Hi,I'm wondering if there is any help (FAQs, etc.) for how the panel system works in simplified terms..specifically I don't understand why, when I download a plane, for example from a virtual airlines, it does not have the virtual cockpit..(this is just one example).. I see the panel.cfg aliases to some other FS2002 aircraft (let's say the 747).. so if the 747 has a virtual cockpit, and another plane aliases to it, shouldn't it have the same virtual cockpit??Also, for example, the Cessna 182 has (inside the panel directory) pictures of rear views, and other views.. the Cessna 172 does not have these pictures.. but yet it has views in those directions.. this doesn't make any sense. The reason I ask these questions is that I'm trying to get the best views out of each of my aircraft (the ones I download from Virtual Airlines) so I can enjoy all the functions of each one.. I'm wondering if there is an FAQ somewhere that explains how the panel config file works.. etc..Of course I'm not a designer, and if I dont' have to I would prefer not to have to get too involved.. but I will if that's the only way..Any help is appreciated!Thank you!Jeff Scharpf

Virtual cockpits are part of the model itself, not the panel. So if you have a POSKY 747 model, even though it aliases to the default 747 panel, you will not get the Virtual Cockpit, as this is only part of the default 747 model. The reason the 182RG has interior bitmaps is because it has no virtual cockpit. The 182S and 172 both have virtual cockpits (and a modeled interior), so the interior bitmaps are not necessary.
