December 1, 200223 yr Hiya, I was wondering about the pre takeoff radio clearances, who actually gives the clearence? Is it from the control tower or a station dedicated to the flight planning? Also were is the engine start clearance gotten from? Is it from the dispatcher on the ramp or from ground control? If it is from the ground control, how does the pilot know if the area around his aircraft is clear? Thanks, ric
December 1, 200223 yr Clearance to destination is given by clearance delivery most often, they get engine start clearance from either ground control (startup control) in Europe. The controller and the tug driver make sure it is clear.HTH
