Recommend....EPIC ISA or USB

Featured Replies

Guys, I would need your opinion refering to EPIC ISA and/or USB. I have had ISA since I first build cockpit in 1998 I didn't occur to have a problem with it. But, It sure put me in lot of fustration with EPL... Just until then, USB was born! I didn't think I would need to get those, It's just that I thought R and R electroncs produced USB to make life for sim builder a much easier. By unplug them and place it on another cpu, or new computer if necessary compared to ISA, which would be slotted "stuck" in PC. Later on I find that the functions of USB has more options/possibility than what ISA have. There is one thing I am concerned about, since I have been going through this forums. I remembered there was a lot of topic metioned about the problems with USB. Now I suppose, If decide to purchase USB would I face some strange problems too? what can I do to avoid these problems? Care to share your opinion, suggestion, or anything you can tell me to obtain USB instead of keeping ISA slotted in the PC. Let me know

BizzyBee:I don't own an ISA version of the EPIC, I have only been coding with the USB version. However, I'm finding it easy to use the USB and I haven't found any problems that haven't been solved through talking an email to R&R.My guess is you may have to (or want to) change some of the ISA code to make it compatible with the USB version. I noticed in the EPIC documentation that some of the ISA commands and functions are obsolete when using the USB EPIC so,at a minimum, you'll have to make those code changes if you switch over.
