EPIC USB problem after EPL Upload

Featured Replies

Hi there !First of all, I have to admit that I'm a complete newbie to the EPIC system.I wired my buttons and analogs to the Expansion-board (40 Ribon-cable and DB15 "A") and verified that my buttons and analogs work correctly through Epic Info and the "Gaming-Options-Menu" and everything worked fine. Now I intended to assign a "keyhit"-command to one of my buttons attached to the expansion-board. My problem is that when I compile and upload my epl-File(s) to my Epic-Usb, no keystroke is sent and my Gaming-Controller-Menu now show only two "EPIC USB (Hid)"-Devices instead of four or eight. When I try to klick on one of the two devices I get the error-message:"Game-Controller is not plugged in. Please determine if Controller is properly plugged in" When I unplug/replug my USB Cable to the Epic-Card eg. restart Windows 4 Epic-Devices show up again and work correctly. Already tried several Epicenter Version up to 1.0.1.2 with no success.I'm currently working with Win ME.Does anybody have (had) the same problem ? Does anybody have a solution to this ?Chris

Is your EPIC connected to your keyboard? With the newer versions of EPIC software, EPIC installs keyboard and mouse drivers in Windows so you don't need the keyboard connector any longer. When you installed your EPIC software, were there instructions for installing keyboard and mouse drivers?

Hello Jam01Thank you much for your reply ! Maybe you think, I'm stupid ;-) but I've never plugged anything into my EPIC Keyboard connector for two reasons:First, I always assumed that EPIC send the Keyboard commands direct via the USB Interface (Ralph Robinson told me that newer EpiCenter can handle this, although I was never able to run his new Version of EpiCenter...)The second reason is that I've never recieved an "Y"-Cable Adapter with my EPIC Card. (Therefore I thought it wouldn't be necessary to have it)Do you know if the Y-Cable should automatically comes along with the basic EPIC Card package ? If it is so, I'll complain at Microcockpit. But beside the problem that I couldn't send keystrokes (which is not as important for me), I always had the impression that my written epl-File does not have any impact on my Gaming Controller-Menu at all. My intention was to only make my 4 analogs and 2 Buttons (via DB15) visible in Gaming Options, but instead I see 8 standart EPIC HID Controllers in Gaming Options everytime I load my epl up to EPIC. And sometimes I even couldn't see my axes moving there after upload (or by clicking on one of the HID controllers I get the message: "Joystick is not plugged in correctly" ) Maybe you have some advice for me, that would be great.Thank you in advance !

the quickest way to get you up and running is to have you zip up your EPIC project and send it to Ralph at [email protected], explain you problems as you did in the previous post. I would also explain your install and whether an extra keyboard and mouse were installed when you loaded the EPIC software. On the question of the "Y" cable and sending keystrokes: With the newer versions of the EPIC software, you can send keystrokes thorugh the USB port. To do this however, you need to install special EPIC keyboard and mouse drivers that are part of the newer EPIC installation instructions. Talk to Ralph about how to verify that these new drivers were loaded.
