Will I be able to use and understand EPIC

Featured Replies

Hi all,Perhaps this question seems strange to you, but that is how I feel at this time.I see that EPIC is a fantastic product and I'm sure it would be the perfect solution for my project.BUT ! After reading several webinfo on EPIC, I still don't understand how to handle it, I didn't find a good step by step manual how to use it, how to install it is no problem but all the rest.I have no programming skils so EPL is like chinese to me, I would like to learn it but how and where? What is your advise ?Thanks ! Hi!I think nearly everyone who is using an EPIC System had some troubles in the beginning. I know, you hardly find any good manuals, especially for the EPIC USB. For EPIC ISA there is one @ www.flightlink.com, where you also get EPICenter, the IDE for programming EPL code. @ www.avsim.com/bluesideup you find some infos on the modules, unfortuneately only in old EPL syntax. One year ago, when I got the EPIC, I also had no programming experience. I had to learn "C" at University and so the beginning became easier. But after one year I can tell you that it isn't that much difficult.regards,Steve---------------------------------------------------------------------Do you know the A320 Flightdeck Project? Hi all,Thank you for the posts, now I have a good idea of wat to expect, and thankis for the great manual this is a very big help certainly when beeing new to the matter.I know that the answer wil surely be in the manual, but I have a quick question.Lets take for example that you program the commands for gear up and down and that you want a 12v lamp to indicate this event. Is Epic able to supply the 12 volts or how can this be done.I plan to use real parts for my project that's why the question...Big thanks again !GreetingsMarnixwww.projectmagenta.com/dreamflight

Quote: "Is Epic able to supply the 12 volts or how can this be done."You'll actually need an EPIC Expantion Module and a EPIC Output Module to connect your lights. The 12 volt lights will connect to the Output Module and a separate 12 volt power supply will be needed to supply the power for the lights. A wiring diagram is provided with the EPIC Output Module to show you how to do this. For high current applications, I connect a pc-board 12 volt relay to the Output Module and then connect my high-current device to the relay contacts. Depending on the current draw of you lights, this may be needed.
