METAR vs ATIS

Featured Replies

I was flying near Akron Ohio. The Metar was advising the ceiling was 600 ft. The ATIS in Akron was not correct on visibilty and cloud height. It was advising no cloud below 12000. Also the weather at Akron was wrong when i got to Akron. I have the proper setup in place. Please advise.David AlbrightFAA Flight dispatcherSingle and Mult-engine rated pilot500 hours Real PIC2000 hours Sim PICSim Test Pilot

Hi David,I just tried it out and I got the same weather in FS2002 as the real metar...KCAK 141551Z 32010KT 4SM -DZ BR OVC006 01/01 A2969hmm... check Your FSUIPC settings and untick "attempted whiteout fix" on the "technical" tab. Also, verify your UTC time setting on the wxRE options menu and that you are not flying in dynamic mode. Also just for testing You could set the cloud transition interval to only 5 seconds (in wxRE options menu) and observe if there is any cloud coverage change in fs2002.Cheers,Viljamihttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

To add to the above I would check Adjust Weather to ATIS in FSUIPCCapt.Richard Dillon (KATL)www.jetstarairlines.comhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpghttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg"Lets Roll" 9/11 -----------------------Specs AMD 1600 XP MSI KT 266t pro2 512MB DDR 2100Asus GF4 ti 4200 128MBSBliveCh Products Yoke and Pedals(usb)Windows 2000 Serivce Pack 3
